Timisoara City is situated on the 4th Pan-European road circulation corridor, on a section planned to be modernised in order to facilitate the access between important urban centres in Europe, Balkan Peninsula and the Near East, (Dresden, Prague, Bratislava, Budapest, Bucharest, Constanta, Sofia, Thessalonik, Istambul). Two main ramifications of this corridor – towards Bucharest and Sofia - will make a junction, in the Timis County area.

The railway network (787 km) set up in the last century due to the development of Timis County’s industry encompasses nowadays the densest railway in Romania (91 km of railways on 1000-squkm territories).
Timisoara city is the main railway crossing point of the province, followed by Lugoj, Gataia, Buzias, Sânandrei, Jebel, Voiteg, Periam, Lovrin, Sânnicolau Mare and Jimbolia.
The electrified railways represent 14% of the total length of the railway network (34% on national level).

Two international railways routes crosses the Timis County’s territory:

The International Airport of Timisoara, located in the northeastern part of the city, ensures air transports. It is a back-up airport for Otopeni International Airport (Bucharest), Budapest and Belgrad, being the second airport of Romania (in terms of importance and size) and the most important airport in the DKMT Euroregion.
The international airport offers regular flights by several domestic and international air companies (Tarom, Austrian Airlines, JAT etc.), ensuring good connections for passengers and freight transports with a lot of cities inside and outside Romania (Bucharest, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Vienna, New York, Verona, etc).
The endowment of the airport allows access of modern airship used by well-known companies, including the Airbus-310 type, being the most important aerial gate for the county and for the region.

As a result of the regional economic growth and of the traffic increase (passengers and commodities) a project for the airport modernising were born. The project includes expanding and modernising the aircraft landing tracks, modernising the beacon light system and the passengers air-stations providing in this idea new equipment in order to improve quality of the airport services.

As regards the waterways, the most important shipping canal of the region is the Bega canal. It continues on the Yugoslavian territory and was navigable in the past, too.

The Bega canal offers the possibility to access the 7 Pan- European corridor Danube-Main – Rhine, a fluvial diagonal line which connects the north-west of Europe to the south-east (The North Sea to The Black Sea).
Nowadays, one of the public local administration priorities is to restore the Bega Canal’s navigability in order to develop tourism-leisure and goods transportation.

Distribution networks - The gas distribution network extends over all towns and includes a great number of communes. The electricity distribution network is well organised all over the county.

The town’s heating network system is relatively extended but have some insufficiencies regarding maintenance and .

The town’s water supply has capacity problems regarding treatment, stocking and distribution.

A wealthy hydrographic drainage contributes to the growth of the water supply potential of the area. In the hill and mountains areas there are a great number of storage basins with insufficiently used resources.

In last years, the telecommunication network experienced an outstanding development increasing access to domestic and international modern communication means. An essential role in this respect was played by the penetration in the area of the large expert companies (the operation in Timisoara of the Alcatel Joint Romanian-French Company, which produces digital telephone exchanges).
